About Janet Wecker-Frisch

As a youngster artist Janet Wecker-Frisch grew up surrounded by the visual arts. One of her favorite places was the small home studio where her father, a fine artist, sculpted and painted. Janet spent her spare time drawing while her father used his skills to teach, train, critique and encourage her artistic development. Although they frequently went to see the Masters at the local museum, Janet was most taken by the illustrative works of Rockwell, Lyendecker, C.M. Burd, and Garth Williams.

While raising three children, Janet found her way back to painting and met with great success at local art shows. She became known for a popular line of hand-painted ornaments that boasts many faithful collectors. In addition, Janet's art grew and evolved to reflect her early love of illustration, at times inspired by the influence of vintage children’s books. Her Hungry Animals alphabet is a prime example. The lines and painting of each character are fine and gentle yet imbued with the lively sense of their appetites.

Today, Frisch brings her joyful, creative illustrations to wallpaper borders, tempered glass accessories, hand-cut maple puzzles and, of course, a new series of fabric collections available exclusively from South Sea Imports.
