Virginia is an enthusiastic quilt and dollmaking artist who loves to share new ideas with others. She has been working in the fabric industry for 29 years. A Master of Fine Arts Degree prepared her for a fulfilling life of facilitating the creativity of others. She taught art at three universities before embarking on a career in the fabric and sewing field.
Virginia has taught quilting and dollmaking all over the US, Australia, New Zealand and in Europe. She teaches at the International Quilt Festival and Market every year and was named Dollmaker of the Year in 1997. She brings experience and enthusiasm to the class room.
Virginia has designed over 4000 fabric designs for three companies over the last 17 years.
Virginia and her husband Lynn have devoted the last 29 years to their publishing company Robertsons' Enterprises. She has a history of opening interesting quilt shops in unlikely places. The first was The Osage County Quilt Factory, which was housed in a 110 year old church building in Kansas. Since moving to Colorado, Virginia has had three shops, one in a historic building at the base of the ski slopes in Telluride, another in a log cabin in Dolores and our last shop was in downtown Cortez.
Virginia believes that creativity is the breaking of rules to create new solutions. She teaches options for individual interpretation rather than strict rules. She publishes her patterns with care for the enjoyment of the customer.
